All
Breed Canine Registry
Founded in 1996
|
The
International
Progressive Dog
Breeders' Alliance
®, (IPDBA)
founded in 1996, is the
first registry of its
kind, uniting Master
breeders and enthusiasts
around the world of all
breeds of canines in one
unique registry.
The founders of IPDBA believe that
the breeding
of all animals
is
an art form,
and as such,
like-minded
breeders
should have
the freedom to
express
themselves and
their vision
for their
breed in not
only their
breeding
programs, but
all the dogs
within their
breed
throughout the
registry.
The
founders of IPDBA were Master
canine breeders of
their breeds who
realized that no matter
how good
their personal breeding
program was or how much
they improve their dogs
in their kennel over
many years, it had very
little influence to the
improvement of the breed
as a whole. In fact,
most breeds as a whole
today are declining
in the other registries
whose sole purpose is to
keep a pedigree database
and stud book. The founders
realized the only way to
improve an entire breed
was to get all the
breeders within a registry
to breed their dogs
under the same strict
standards and
requirements.
Since each breed may
have different faults or
things that need
improvement that are
unique to themselves,
each breed would need to
have unique registration
requirements to improve
their breed as a whole.
Since the breeders of
each breed know their
breed better than the
officers of any dog
registry, IPDBA gives
full control to the
Chartered Breed
Association of each
breed to develop their
breed's unique
registration
requirements, and the
IPDBA Registrar strictly
enforces those unique
requirements and
improving
each breed.
Example #1: If a breed
suffers from genetic
faults, all dogs would
be required to be
certified free from the
fault before they could
be used for breeding.
With the use of genetic
coding, the future looks
bright for IPDBA breeds
to enable them to
completely eradicate all
genetic faults in their
breeds.
Example #2: If a hunting
or working breed suffers
from years of breeding
non-hunting or
non-working dogs, they
would be required to be
certified
as hunting or working
dogs before being used
for breeding. A tree
dog
breed would be required
to certify
as a tree
dog.
Bird
dog breeds would be
required to be gun
dog
certified.
Search
and Rescue
breeds would be required
to be Certified
for
Search & Rescue
to be permanently
registered and used
for breeding.
This is already being
done in many
IPDBA-registered breeds,
improving
customer satisfaction
five
times over what the
same breeds are
producing in
other registries
today.
Example #3: If a breed
suffers from unethical
breeders switching
papers and pedigrees on
their dogs, all pups
would need
to be permanently
identified with marked
diagrams, photos,
tattoos, microchips, or
even DNA, etc..
Also, all known breeders
and their dogs who have
false papers in other
registries can be
permanently banned from
registration in IPDBA,
eliminating those false
pedigrees in the whole
breed within IPDBA.
Example
#4: If
a breed is
known to have one
or more inherited
genetic disorders
carried
in certain dogs
or bloodlines
within the
breed, the
breed
charter
or IPDBA can ban
any dogs that are
known to
have that
bloodline or dog
in
its pedigree.
This has
been
done in many
IPDBA breeds
today,
completely
eliminating inherited
genetic
disorders
still commonly
found in the
same breeds in
other
registries.
Since its founding, IPDBA has
attracted some of the best
canine breeders around the
world for their respective
breeds and has quickly
established a reputation
of having the highest,
superior quality dogs within
its registry. "Quality over
Quantity" is the IPDBA motto.
Within the first
twenty years, IPDBA policies
have attracted the
very best, most knowledgeable
breeders from around the
world
who have used the
policies
developed by their breed
charters
and enforced
by the IPDBA Registrar
to develop
breeds
that are 100%
free
from all known
inherited
genetic
disorders.
IPDBA is also home to
unique superior
bloodlines not found anywhere
else in the world!
Basically, the founders'
dream has come true.
You cannot
get better
quality or genetically
sound
dogs or pups
than out
of IPDBA-registered
dogs!
